Product information
N1-Guanyl-1,7-Diaminoheptane, also known as GC7, is the most efficient inhibitor of deoxyhypusine synthase (DHS) known. As a competitive inhibitor it binds to the active site of DHS and prevents the first step in the post-translational conversion of a single lysine to hypusine in translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A). The modification is essential for sustained cell growth. GC7 acts on purified DHS and penetrates cells well to inhibit DHS inside the cell. GC7 has been used as cell cycle synchronizing reagent.
Properties:
- Formula: C8H22N4O4S
- Molecular Weight: 270.03
- Appearance: white powder
- CAS Number: 150333-69-0
Product usage:
- When GC7 is used for cell culture it should be used together with 0.5 mM aminoguanidine to prevent destruction by monoamine oxidase (see ref. 2 Chen et al.)This compound is quite stable as a solid. This product has been treated to remove di-guanyl aminoheptane and therefore is free of contaminants.Prepare fresh a solution of 10 mM acetic acid (28.6 µl concentrated acetic acid [17.5 M] in 50 mL H20).Prepare fresh a stock solution of GC7 by dissolving it to the desired concentration in 10 mM acetic acid. The acidic pH afforded by the acetic acid minimizes precipitation due to dissolved CO2 from the air.Store at -20 °C when in solution.Normal laboratory precautions should be taken when handling this compound: gloves, lab coat and safety goggles should be used.Note: No MSDSHas not undergone any toxicological or other testing. Handle with care, dispose of properly.
Storage and handling:
- Shipping conditions: Ambient
- Storage conditions: Room Temperature
