Hapten reagents allow you to synthesize your own custom conjugates. Ovalbumin (Chicken egg white albumin or OVA) is a phosphorylated-glycoprotein that can be used as a carrier protein to conjugate to synthetic peptides for use as an immunogen. It has 385 amino acids and its relative molecular mass is 45kDa. Ovalbumin has the following amino acids which make it suitable for conjugation: Lys, Tyr, Cys, Asp and Glu. Ovalbumin can be used to immunize animals to elicit antibodies to small molecules (haptens) by covalent conjugation.
